Telnet freeware

  • HyperTerminal Private Edition
This excellent free program offers a more powerful version of the HyperTerminal program that comes in Windows 95 and NT 4.0. HyperTerminal PE, on its surface, seems almost identical to HyperTerminal (except for its animated banner screen). Both are speedy 32-bit programs that take full advantage of the Windows 95 and NT 4.0 interface and key features, such as TAPI (Telephony API ) and Unimodem universal modem support. (Free for personal use)

  • KevTerm
A simple freeware telnet client that emulates VT100/ANSI terminals. Standard functions include copy-and-paste data transfer, local echo, font selection, logging, macros, scroll back buffer and variable terminal screen size. (For Windows).

  • Tera Term (Pro)
Here's a good freeware software terminal emulator from Japan. It supports VT100 emulation, Telnet connections, serial port connections and more. There's also a Pocket Tera Term version available for Windows CE. (For Windows).

  • EasyTerm
Here's an excellent, fully-featured sockets-enabled Telnet terminal program. Supports many protocols besides Telnet, such as SMTP and POP3. EasyTerm emulates a DEC VT100 terminal and supports ANSI colors. EasyTerm will log your entire session, supports clipboard transfers, and will print the current display. It also remembers up to 32 hosts and protocols. (For Windows).

  • Console Telnet for Win 32
Here's a solid freeware console telnet client for 32-bit Windows. Can be run in full-screen text mode (in a DOS session) or in a graphics windows. Supports ANSI colors. You can also redirect the telnet session to STDIN and STDOUT for use with other programs. Console Telnet will communicate the number of lines and line width to the host, and can operate in any console mode. (For Windows).
